Bijan offers authentic Malay food with fine dining experience. The last time I had authentic Malay food just like this was at Seri Melayu Restaurant, Jalan Conlay...wayyy wayyy back. Since it is towards the end of Syawal, the food spread consist of some local Raya delicacies such as all the kuih, cookies, rendang, ketupat and lemang. Entertained with Raya songs while we were there. Others like Grilled Ribs, grilled prawns, Satay. Oh, the beef Satay is a must try! The meat is succulent and marinated perfectly and they keep refilling it. How I wish I could taste all, but I did not. My tummy ain't that big! Haha..all food looks delish! I took the ones I rarely see or eat. The food is awesome but being someone that loves spicy Malay food, I was expecting the rendang and masak lemak to have a lil spicy kick. But I guess, for expatriates or tourist or even locals that often come to Bijan that may not be able to accept the heat, perhaps they make it less spicy to the tastebuds. Oh oh...I do recommend 'the one' dessert. Chocolate Durian cake... to be honest, I don't fancy durian, and one of the staff there insisted me to try the cake but their durian cake was awesome. The cake is not that sweet and the durian really complements the choc cake well. and ohhh.. I loveee lovee the Wajik (sweet glutinous rice). Not too sweet nor too chewy!
Decked out sleekly with warm ambience and wooden table settings to enliven some vintage element, Bijan welcomes you to a fantastic spread of fine Malay cuisine, set against a multi-faceted aesthetic ornaments of rustic batik décor in a cozy air-conditioned environment and subdued lighting, During previous Ramadhan month, Bijan has come up with a plethora of nostalgic rendition of local cuisines alongside international fusion to whet the palate of worldwide epicureans as well. Amongst the mouthwatering food that have amused our palate are....... Grilled Selection that includes Satays, meat and also seafood such as Scallops, Prawns, Squids, Mussels etc. For mains, you cold choose from Nasi Minyak, Ayam Masak Merah to assorted toothsome Malay kuehs and many more. Comes to dessert moment! We had the notable dessert of the day- luscious Durian Cheesecake! It's very creamy, densed and packed with fresh flesh of D24 breed, thus explains the sweetness amidst the pungency. The marvelously baked cake has even won new foodies over who previously do not find durian as one their fav fruit. Additional ala-carte ordeer, you should try out this indulgent Durian Chocolate Cake (better make rsvp earlier as limited slices are made daily) It's another majestic recipes from Bijan, incorporating the smooth chocolate with mouthwatering bites of the King of Fruits, it's just heavenly! Overall, it was indeed a marvelous night with mesmerizing nosh-up, heightened up with amiable service from the staff. Cheers!
